Technical data supplements existing geodata sets and assigns certain thematic or numerical attributes to them. Technical data does not usually have its own geographical reference. Supplementary technical data particularly plays a central role in the fields of transport, statistics, demographic development and land-use planning, and expands the potential of spatial analyses significantly to include research areas that are more alien to GIS.
Technical data from selected cantons and federal offices is available on various topics, including:
- Spatial development: structure plans, construction zones etc.
- Landscape: wetland areas, protected zones etc.
- Bodies of water: eco-morphology, aquatic environments etc.
- Transport: public transport classes, municipal roads etc.
